Good Morning,
We have all heard by now how Facebook and its other apps, Instagram and Whatsapp, went down for 6 hours on Monday. Luckily for some businesses, it was only 6 hours. Facebook lost anywhere between $60 million and $100 million in lost revenue. But what about the businesses that use Facebook and its other apps to generate sales?
I know a few small businesses that do all their marketing for their business, products and services all on one media channel. Just imagine you are a restaurant owner and you promote your daily lunch and dinner special on Facebook or maybe Instagram. You depend on them to get the word out, and they crash! How do you think your day went?
You CAN NOT be dependent on ONE channel to get the word out!
Successful medium-size and large businesses always use multiple media channels to promote their products.
If you are using one media, start now planning and implementing multiple marketing channels. Start by collecting your customers’ email addresses, physical address and cell phone number (texting) so you can contact them on your timetable vs. them contacting or visiting your sites on their schedule. Once you have this basic information you can collect more information about your customers so you can fine-tune or target your communications to match their needs and wants.
With all this data, you will find out the primary, secondary, and tertiary ways your customers receive their information. Now if one of those channels goes down or away, you won’t be left without business. Your message is still getting out on the other channels.

Till next time.
