A Mommieism that’s true

 

Good Morning
Remember when your mother said, “If everyone else jumped off a cliff, would you go along with them?” Usually it was something you wanted to do, and yes, all your friends were doing it and you wanted to fit in. Right?
Nowadays, we do the same thing. We see our competition do something, like run an ad, post on Facebook 10 times a day, text marketing, and we think we have to do the same thing now. The problem is that when we all do the same thing, we all look the same to our customers. Then the only difference is price, which leads to playing the Walmart game.
What can you do?
Try something different. Go in the opposite direction; don’t be a lemming. If you start marketing and advertising in a different way than your competition, your customers will notice you.
One of the things I do is borrow marketing and advertising ideas from one industry and use it in another.
Don’t bow to the pressure of “what will people in our industry say,” or “that’s not what we do in our industry.” What I want to hear is, “no one has ever done that before in our industry; can you do that?”
