Getting Customers Back In

Good Morning,

Businesses that have been closed are starting to reopen; some essential businesses have been open. Now, with restrictions being lifted, people are starting to get out of the house more. So as a business, what do you do to get people to start spending with you again?

To begin with, you have to let them know you’re open, and if your hours or capacity have changed, that would be a good start. Also, you have to rebuild trust with your customers. True, you might have had their trust beforehand, but are they now willing to trust you with their lives and the lives of their loved ones?

If you think I’m being a bit overdramatic, consider the low testing rates. Also that an asymptomatic person can very easily pass it along to another person without knowing. If you were to get it, you don’t know whether you would be asymptomatic  or end up in the hospital on a ventilator or worse!
The point I’m making is that you have to rebuild or build their trust to a deeper level now. You can do this by outlining the steps your business is going to take to insure their health and safety and then do it very visibly.

That might mean signage, limiting the amount of people in your business at one time, the wearing of gloves and masks for everyone (customers and staff) and continuous cleaning. Then you have to do it. Your customers have to feel and know they are safe in your business. Once you have their trust, they will probably be customers for life. If not, they will not do business with you and you’ll be out of business very quickly. Your choice!

Now that you are willing to do what it takes to build their trust, you can work on the messaging and the media. You need to include all forms of media including emails (if you have them), social media, your web site, notes and listing on Google My Business, Yelp and other sites, post card mailing and newsletters, Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) to your targeted service area and don’t forget signage! Now is not the time to skimp! You’re fighting to  get your customers back and keep your business alive. You need to do what you have to do!

I can be of assistance in helping you get your message out, whether it’s website development, social media posts, direct mail, EDDM, listing or other media. Contact me about my “Reopening Special.”
