I’m Paying for Her Campaign

Good Morning

Over the years I’ve worked on a lot of political campaigns. I’ve even run a couple and done mailings for a lot of them. I’ve never done a

statewide or federal election, but I have been a voter since I was eighteen and I’m now 65.

Now during election season I expect to get mailings from the candidates almost every day. I look to see which printer and mailing companies are working for which candidates. I used to and still do keep copies of mailings to use as examples. Good research!

The past few weeks I have been getting mailings from my Congresswomen Beth Van Duyne (TX-24). It seems like once a week, I would get a big 8 1/2 x 11 inch post card. One day I got 2 such post cards. Now I don’t mind getting such stuff; it helps out printing and mailing companies. But what I don’t like is paying for this out of my tax dollars!

Congresswomen Beth Van Duyne is using her position as my U.S. Representative and her franking privilege to use tax payer money (our tax dollars) to print and mail these very expensive campaign pieces.

True, nowhere on it does it say “re-elect me” or mention the up-coming election. But it does talk about what she is doing and what she has done. If it looks like a duck…

In the past I have gotten a newsletter and/or a survey from my Congressperson. But I have never gotten so many mailings in such a short period of time using my tax dollars from my Congresswoman! And one of the mailings talked about lowering “deficits and encourage more conservative spending.”

When I got mailings from other officials, they were paid for using campaign funds.

I know what she is doing is legal, but it sure doesn’t smell right or feel proper.

Till next time.
