Advertising/marketing does not work!

Good Morning ,
One of the most common objections I get is, “advertising/marketing does not work; it’s a waste of money.” In the past I would try to convince these people that it does work. Then stop arguing and add a remark, knowing that they would never use my services.
I was watching the news the other day and found an interesting fact. Rick Caruso a former longtime Republican turned Democrat was a very wealthy but little known and no-political-experience candidate for the office of mayor of the city of Los Angeles. Caruso was running against U.S. Rep. Karen Bass who is very well know.
They are now in a runoff for the office and the winner will be the next mayor.
How did Caruso come from nowhere and could be the next mayor? $40 million! He spent 40 million dollars of his own money on advertising to get the word out about this campaign!
That’s the power of advertising/marketing! I’m not saying that you have to spend $40 million to get the word out about your product or services, but you have to spend something. In fact I used to teach people how to market their business using 10 postage stamps per day (5 days a week).
The next time someone says that advertising doesn’t work I, and hopefully you, will use this example of it working.
