Labor Day and Less Labor

Good Morning

This weekend is Labor Day weekend. For a lot of people it is a three day weekend. “Labor Day is a federal holiday in the U.S. that recognizes and celebrates the achievements of American workers. It is observed on the first Monday in September. The roots of Labor Day date back to the decades following the Civil War, when workers took part in strikes and rallies to demand shorter workdays and better working conditions,” wrote Ronni Sandroff of Investopedia. It’s also the unofficial end of summer.

As the unofficial end of summer and vacation time, for most of us it’s time to get back to work on our business. So as you get off your behind let me suggest this: How would you like to do less labor in the long term? Before you say yes, let me tell you that you have to do some labor in the short term!

What I’m suggesting is developing one or more evergreen products that will give you an additional stream of income that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once it’s set up, it can run and generate income for you almost unattended. As Ron Popeil once said, “Set it and forget it.”

Examples of evergreen products include: a manual on how to remove mold from your home, plans on how to build a potato gun, training guide on how to start and run a successful vending machine business. Subscription services are another way to develop an addition stream of income, think newsletters or helplines. Then there is being a referral partner. At one time companies like Constant Contact would let you be a referral partner. They would give you a link and if any one signed up by using that link you would get a fee, and some companies would send you monthly payments for as long as that person was their customer (Send Out Cards).

So enjoy your time off this Labor Day weekend, and on Tuesday when you get back to work, think about doing less labor with evergreen offerings. If you need ideas or help, just contact me at Phil@MyMarketingCure.com or reply to this email.

Also you can still send me your advertising/marketing success stories. What have you done to increase sales in your business? We all learn from each other. I and everyone else could get inspiration, an idea or a new twist on something that has been successful for you. Now is your chance to help someone else and be a hero! Think about your successes, then write them down and send them in.
