Hi
I just returned from cold Chicago, where I spent 4 days with some of the best informational marketers in the country. You may be wondering how this applies to my business. The same techniques and methods work just as well for businesses selling products and services whether offline or online. Here are a few points that you should remember and use to boost your business.
1) Do not be overdependent on one medium. The medium you depend on could be outlawed. Remember when everyone was doing faxing? Now you can’t. Same with telemarketing to consumers. And emailing. There are laws against spamming that people are supposed to follow. And on top of that, email response rates are declining. Which medium is next?
2) The newsletter that you send out is the critical component of your marketing program. It should be the center of your marketing. It is a great way to keep in contact with your customers and prospects and away from your competition.
3) Always have a headline on all your marketing pieces — and your company name does not count. In fact your headline should state your big promise, with a call out to your target audience.
4) Create a Why. Jimmy Vee and Travis Miller, who help car dealers sell more cars, tell their dealers to tell their sales people “we believe that everybody deserves to drive a nicer, newer car.” Stop selling x, and start selling solutions.
5) If you have a great story, you can sell an ordinary, adequate product (the Charles Atlas story).
These are just a few of the things I learned that can help you pump up your business. Want more? Just contact me.
