Difference

Good Morning  

I write this well before attending the HEB Chamber networking breakfast (Good Morning HEB), which is being hosted by my friends David and Michael who own Forest Ridge Funeral Home.  I hope to see a lot of people there. There might be a couple of bankers, a few financial planners, maybe even a bunch of insurance agents, and I know there will be a number of real estate agents.
I also know that I will be the only one there who is a Doctor of C.A.R.E. and that I specialize in customer retention. I help businesses get back lost customers and help them keep current customers from becoming lost customers. No one else will claim that! Would you rather talk to someone who runs a marketing company that maybe specializes in social media or someone who gets your lost/past customers to do business with you again?  
I’m not being callous or indifferent; I’m making a point. You have to differentiate yourself, stand out from the pack, make yourself noticeable.
When you meet people for the first time, you have a few seconds to get and keep their attention when they ask what you do. Do you start with a general and try to move to a specific before you lose them? Or do you start with the unusual and keep their attention? 
This also works with all your other marketing efforts. How are you standing out from the pack?
