Good Morning
I was talking to my friend and fellow marketer Jeremiah Ozment, who was telling me he was partnering with internet marketing companies (social media, web designers, SEO). He mentioned using a sales letter to attract more customers and then realized that he needed to explain what a sales letter was! Imagine marketing experts who don’t know the basics. I’ll save it for another time to write about the need to know the basics of your industry.
As I thought about what Jeremiah said, I remembered a saying I heard long ago, “A sales letter is a salesperson in print.”
That got me wondering: If a sales letter is a salesperson in print, how does that translate to the internet?
A web site is a great start. You can tell people all about your business, you can even conduct e-commerce on your web site. Your web site is a salesperson who works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, never calls in sick, never complains or comes in late, wants a raise or all the other things a human needs and wants. In 2020 there is no reason not to have a web site!
If you have a web site, you need to claim your “Google Local” or “Google My Business” site. Even if you don’t have a web site you need to claim your Google listing before your competition does. When you do this, whenever someone types in your company’s name, specific information about your business pops up. It also links to Google maps. You can use it as a lead generator. Also as part of Google, Google likes it when you use their services and it will help your ranking! The great news is, it’s FREE and super easy to set up and use!
Google Local is your FREE Salesperson. Why wouldn’t you want a free salesperson who works 24/7 for you?
Till next week,
