I have been reviewing a WordStream report on their analysis of 612 of the best ads from the past year. One of the sections dealt with the most popular words used. The words, leaving out conjunctions (and, or) and articles (a, the) are in order:
1) Your
2) Free
3) Now
4) Get
5) Online
6) Our
7) Save
8) Best
9) Shipping
10) You
Remember: Use “you” and “yours” to make sure that your ad copy speaks to your customer and not just about you!
Another point from the report is that the average reading level of the best-performing ads were geared at 14-year-olds.
If you want your ads to get responses, use “Your, Free, Now, Get” and write for a 9th grader.
