Later today I will be manning my booth at the Northeast Tarrant 2011 Business Showcase. The Showcase will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the newly renovated Wiley G. Thomas (Birdville ISD) Coliseum at 6108 Broadway, Haltom City. This event is free and open to the public.
Why am I telling you this? 1) I hope you come by and say hi. 2) To help show you a marketing tip. I spent some money to get a booth, candy to give away, door prizes and promotional materials, all to get some new customers.
There are cheaper way to get business in the door.
You can ask your current customers to make an additional purchase. Or contact past customers to make a purchase.
I had a friend who offers a one-time-only service ask what he should do. I told him to offer a different product to his customers.
Why should past customers buy from you vs. someone new? They know you and what you do; hopefully they were happy with you and your services and will buy again if asked.
One of the things you have to do: ask. The other is that you have to be able to go to your list of current and past customers and use it.
A lot of businesses still have their customers list in a format that they cannot use. Some still have them as paper files in boxes, others in computer programs that will not let you export them into other more useful programs. If you can’t use them, you’re just burying your gold. It’s not doing you any good in the ground, so dig up that gold NOW and use it!
