Cheap but Good Food & Drink And You Have To…..

Networking events are a great and low-cost way to get your name and business out in front of other businesses. It’s also a great way to get fed and have a few drinks at the same time. Lots of chambers’ after-hours mixers only cost $5-10. If done properly they are a very wise investment in business building.

So how is it done to get something other than food and drink out of it?1st – Get there a bit early. This way you can get a lay of the land, so to speak. You find out where everything is. Also offer to help out if needed. Maybe greet the people as they come it. It’s a great way to meet people!

2nd – If you have to eat, eat early before you network with people. You can carry around a drink, but do not get drunk!

3rd – Make sure you have your business cards handy (yes, people will want your card) and put the ones you get into a separate pocket.

4th – Don’t be the last one to leave, unless you’re staying to help clean up. As you leave, thank the hosts.

And finally 5th – After the event handwrite a thank-you note to each and every person who gave you a business card. Now-a-days people do not put addresses on their business cards. They are home based and are afraid people will find out (we already know), or they’re afraid that someone will come to their home (there are ways to take care of that, but that’s another tip for another time). If all you have is an email, then send them a thank-you email. Then you can add them to your drip marketing campaign.
